Andrew G. Ury, M.D. Selected 2008 Vice Chair for HIMSS EHR Vendor Association

ATLANTA, July 24th, 2008 - Andrew G. Ury, M.D., a founding member of the HIMSS EHR Vendor Association (EHRVA), has been elected to serve on the Executive Committee as 2008 Vice Chair effective July 1, 2008. A past vice chair for the Association, Dr. Ury will help lead the group’s mission to provide a collective voice to help accelerate the widespread adoption of interoperable electronic health records (EHR). The association, comprised of more than 40 member companies, is a partner of the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) and operates as an organizational unit within HIMSS.

“It is an honor to be selected to serve as vice chair in light of all the potential changes in national policy that may occur in the coming year, and the need to continue to drive electronic medical record adoption in the U.S., help accelerate standards adoption and interoperability, and help improve the quality of care” said Dr. Ury.

Dr. Ury’s experience encompasses the clinical, technological, regulatory, and business aspects of healthcare information technology. Dr. Ury, founder of Practice Partner which is now part of McKesson Corporation, is currently chief medical officer for Physician Practice Solutions (PPS), a division of McKesson Provider Technologies. He is also a Commissioner on the Certification Commission for Healthcare information Technology (CCHIT).
